The Importance of Small Talk

The purpose of small talk is to speak about something very superficial that you have in common. You can zigzag your way into deeper forms of commonality and just sort of feel somebody out like, are you a weirdo? Do you take turns in conversation? That's the, but that's the point of small talk.
