Asking for Advice Makes People Look More Competent, Not Less
Jonah Lehrer: One of the most powerful questions we can use is asking for advice. He says people are often reticent to ask for advice because they don't want to bother someone or get in their way. But it turns out that's a mistake, according to researchers from Harvard and Wharton. They found asked for advice didn't make people look worse; instead made them seem more competent - not less. "Asking of advice makes us look better," Lehrer says.
