Working Cows - Regenerative Ranching to Maximize Profitability and Soil Health

CHAPTER

The Importance of Diversity in Plants

A monoculture of alfalfa will create a whole cascade of negative compounding effects, including negative impacts on the phytonutrient profile. You don't have the diversity of wildlife that you could have if you had far more plant species growing out there. If ranchers intentionally apply the three rules of adaptive stewardship, they're going to see better soil function and other species diversity. They are going to be able to increase their overall carrying capacity and support multiple species of livestock.
