PostgreSQL Advisory Locks - What Are They?
Postgres provides a mean for creating locks that have application defined meaning. These are called advisory lock because the system does not enforce their use, right? It is up to the application to use them correctly. Advisory locks can be useful for locking strategies that are awkward for MVC.
