The Moral Importance of Sentience
It's sort of a default mode of interpersonal cognition for you then is to presume that the person that you're interacting with has extensions. So some people think that sentience is both sufficient and necessary for moral standing or moral status. I'm pretty sure that things that can feel pain or experience pleasure are things that I want to take into moral consideration.
