"I think most negotiations that end up if one side is ecstatic and the other side is despotic or whatever, despondent, that's not a good deal," he said. "If you can get both sides to mostly good, a little bit bad, that's probably the best place to be" He says being an astronaut helped him see things from someone else's point of view. But it also made him feel threatened by people who thought he was overqualified for the job.
