Do you take inspiration from those sorts of writers in turn when you're doing your own translational work? To eliminate a step, yes. I didn't really try to emulate Joyce's style, who could, but it gave me its encouragement on the path that I was going. The most brilliant extended example of prose poetry in the English language is Molly Bloom's lukey at the end of Ulysses and parataxes predominate.
