Why Did the War Last So Long?

It's actually fairly straightforward to split the war into phases. So in the beginning 16 18 to about 16 20, orothers like the so called palatine phase. But that 80 years more between the spanish and dutch is just one, one avenue of the 30 years war. That's really realy very important to it. Some people probably find all these threads overwhelming, but i just think it's incredible that there're so many different threads.
