There's more opportunities for pathogens to jump species in other parts of the world. Living in a city and traveling around by tube and sitting in crowded offices can also expose you to pathogens. This is one of the first historical accounts and facilities argues that an outbreak of what he calls plague, which was possibly smallpox, played a really,really important role in the outcome of the conflict.
