Software Systems Have Orders of Majority More States Than Computers Do
Software systems have orders of magnitude more states than computers do. This makes conceiving, describing and testing them hard. A test on a system that is in one particular state tells you nothing at all about the behavior of that system or component when it happens to be in another state. You can't rely on this component if there's so many possible states it can be in.
