The Three Elements of Dante's Transformation
Dante has three dreams in the Purgatorio which mark three elements of Dante's transformation. The first dream is a nightmare for Dante he thinks it reveals the darkness of his soul but Virgil tells him that actually Lucy had appeared and in the night had carried him further up the mountain. Jung called aspects of the collective unconscious or archetypes that we've absorbed too are a third facet of our storehouse of myths.
