Green knight says he's holding a branch of, i guess it's a branch of holly e er, a branch from a tree. So arthur assumes that the guy is coming to challenge someone to a one to one fight. The green knight responds by saying: 'I haven't come here for a fight' And then Arthur asks him if he would be half as honourable as people say and grant him a fair unarmoured fight.
