The Eyes of a Greyish Bulk, the Head of the Thing Was Round and Had a Face.
Two large, dark coloured eyes were regarding me steadfastly. The head of the thing was rounded and had, one might say, a face. There was a mouth under the eyes, the lipless brim of which quivered and panted. A lank, tentacular appendage gripped the edge of the cylinder. Another swayed in the air. It heaved suggested that it should have been maybe breathing with difficulty or moving heavily. So to quiver means to shake quickly, shake like that sort of er if you're very cold,. But the mouth of this horrible creature is quivering, shaking, and it's panting as well.
