On camera, we call it active listening. A good director wouldn't just have the camera on the guest the whole time. They would go back and forth to you even when you're not saying anything. I've had guests come up to me at the end of interviews and say, you know, you actually helped me through that interview with your facial expressions. And that's like some of the greatest feedback that i could ever hope for after doing an interview."
