The Disinhibition Effect on the Internet
On the internet, there's something called the disinhibition effect, where we can just say all these things. We are uninhibited more on the internet because there's more of a sense of distance and more anonymity. People can be just cruel beyond just the same things they would never say to your face. And they might even feel powerful from that. That might make them feel like a little bit of a hormone rush. I've seen this kind of thing happen as well, where like accusations snowball once they're being passed around the social media.
