The Scottish National Party has exerted a near monopoly over nationalist support in Scotland. Since January, however, that has started to crater. While support for Scottish independence is remaining relatively firm, the proportion of nationalists who say they will support the SNP as a party has fallen from 79% to 65%. All this means that the dominance that the SNP has enjoyed in elections may be undone.
