Journalism Without a Purpose

There's no sort of journalism without a purpose and journalism with a purpose, right? All journalism is doing something in terms of power. If we're not consciously trying to undo oppressive power structures, we're probably upholding them. And so that's the piece of like, once folks can get their heads around that, it's like it's no longer a discussion about whether or not we bring values to bear in journalism, it's which values.
