The Forest of Bondi was based on a play called the dog of Montalgy, which was written in France in 1814. It was so popular that it was immediately adapted into English and played around Britain and Ireland. The audience turned up at the theatre thinking they were going to see this play with the live dog in it,. They lost it. And there was writing. Chandeliers were broken.
