The Republican governor of West Virginia, Jim Justice, is leading Manchin in a hypothetical US Senate match up in 2024 by 22 points. So what is Manchin going to do? His only option really, if he wants to continue his political career, is either to suck up to Joe Biden to try to get an appointment in a hypothetical second term or to run for president himself on a third party ticket.
