We need to differentiate between arousal and desire. Arousal is the body's physical and psychological processes of preparing the body for sex. When those two things are aligned, we call it concordance. And then when they're not, we talk about sexual non-concordance. That can explain why people have experiences like feeling physically turned on in a physio appointment or something like that. This is because your brain is responding to what's sexually relevant in your environment. What's personal to you are those things that you find exciting and eternal and desiring. Those things are about the person rather than the kind of mechanisms that play.
