General Simcoe and the Battle of Sandal Mang

During the war, Simcoe tried to raise a company of blacks to fight for the British. He was then appointed Lieutenant Governor of the New Colonial Zone of Upper Canada. The Act Against Slavery stipulated that no new slaves could be brought into Upper Canada. Children born to slave mothers would be emancipated at the age of 25.
