The Case of Joel Jr.
Joel Guy Jr. was found guilty of murdering his parents in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on November 29. Police used security camera footage to identify him as purchasing the supplies he would use to murder and dispose of them. He also had a journal with numerous notes pertaining to the murder. Joel's trial lasted just four days - extremely unusual for a multiple-murder trial. A judge refused to hand out the death penalty because it wouldn't be fitting punishment.
