The World Systems Theory of Wallerstein
World systems theory is an attempt to explain the formation of the modern capitalist world through expansion. Wallerstein used this to describe the development of the modern world according to those different spheres. In contrast to approaches about polarities or bipolarities or multi-polarities that are currently also discussed with regard to the antagonism between China and the US. I think this world system theory offers a different kind of understanding for conflict that evolved out of that conflict within the capitalist world system.
