Global Catastrophic Risk
Concern about global catastrophic risks has been rising in recent decades. The nature of modern society makes us more susceptible and vulnerable to many kinds of events than was the case earlier in history. Human activity is now creating certain kinds of global risk which did not exist before. And it's also making certain al risks more severe than they would otherwise be, or more probable than they'd otherwise be. So when you put all that together, what people at all round the world are concerned very much with is that we're by our own activities both creating some risks and making others worse.
