The Chief Justice's Opposition to Affirmative Action
The most consequential affirmative action case in a half century comes down to a fight about whether students can talk about race in their essays. And it does really feel that, you know, we have on the one hand, the chief justice saying, "That's not an issue" Mary Harris: In this concession, he conceding away some very hazy and ambiguous, but maybe meaningful room for admissions programs to consider race as long as it's intertwined with identity.
