Film Is Able to Gain Power Over People
Julian Zelizer: Film is in certain cases able to gain power over people, not through creative artistic expression, but by showing the viewer fancy lifelike representations of the world. He says we identify with characters on the screen because of how lifelike they are, and more likely we are to use it as a reference for how the world works in general. "I think now highly processed cultural products, huge budgets, that has obviously completely dominated the industry," he said.
