In 1970, Salvador Allende is elected president of Chile. Richard Nixon orders the CIA to stop him from taking office. The Brazilian US backed dictatorship took over in 1964. In 1973, the coup happens and Jakarta does come. They killed thousands of people in Chile. And again, those on the right thought we can get away with this as Washington will play defense for us. That's exactly what happened.
