Dylan: I think there's a sense in which this simply recognizes the necessity of sort of a set of conventional restraints. And all we can do is accept and work within those things, then it's no different than stoicism. But for stoicism, it's about you alleviate your distress by modifying your attitude towards the world. The way you do that is to realize that what's on the outside cannot be truly good or bad in itself. Mark: She'll talk about how the mind can only exercise itself upon unreal combinations of signs. It's always sort of mysterious why one thing causes another.
