Sudan has been in a state of instability and conflict for years. A military coup 18 months ago appeared to derail democracy, but it didn't entirely kill it. President Beshear brought Hamd al-Daggliou closer to him after the war in Darfur died down. He then started hiring out Rapid Support Forces as mercenary force to rich Gulf countries.
