How to Defer Absolution in Clerical Abuse Cases

Father Matthew Schneider says that in order to be absolved of the sin of something like abuse, you have to be contrite. He goes on to talk about how if an abuser targets a certain type of person, the confessor can ask him to change those circumstances. Why should priests be treated differently than everyone else just because of their religious profession? And now it's certainly true that we should act in any reasonable way to protect children from child abuse.
