The Importance of Awareness Meditation
If your character is trying to sabotage you with destructive behavior, be aware of the experience. 30 minutes of awareness meditation a day will slowly but surely separate the experience from the awareness of the experience and put you back in touch with the player. It's no wonder that every new year always tasted like the prior year. When you are sleepwalking through life the future cannot help but repeat the past because then conscious inputs remain the same and inputs equals outputs. Only after you become aware of how you are playing yourself can consciously start to change the inputs and pull your character's strings instead of letting it run you on autopilot.
