Climate Migrants - Is There a Way to Relocate?
Housing policy in the united states has made it very difficult for people to have that as an option taken out. Most domestic climate migrants move close to where they already were, so someone who gets displaced by a fire in california is likely moving like, a county over. There's not enough homes for people to be able to access that kind of opportunity near them. If you're disabled, if you're elderly and don't have the ability to g o get a new job, these are going to create big problems there too. And i think this is a very clear example of how there needs to be more intersectional, on policy terms, approach to addressing these crises.
