The Red's Journey to Greenland

Eric, the Red set out for Greenland with 25 ships and more than 500 settlers in 985. He established two colonies on the southwest tip of Greenland at the head of Longfjords. Eric settled into an estate called Brittale along Tounoleofikfjord - his fjord. Of the 25 ships, only 14 or 15 reached their destination. The others were lost or returned to Iceland.
