i think that people have a misperception that if you an extreme position, just that by itself is rhetorically ineffective and will make people not listen to you. But i think if you have the extreme position, but you have reasonable arguments for it, then you can get people to listen. On the other hand, if you have a more moderate position, but it's incoherent, i think that's less effective. And basically, i think more moderate positions are incoherent.
