The Purge of the Communist Party
In 1949, Cheng traveled to Moscow to have her glands removed. She wrote letters to her husband: "Our international propaganda is not done well" In the 1950s, she became the head of the CCP's film section under the Department for Propaganda. Her 20-year ban on politics lasted 10 years and so begins her purge.
