The Importance of Tradition in Human History
When the Soviet Union collapsed in 1989 and all of those socialist countries that was their name for what they were changed went back to capitalism if you like. Lenin, Trotsky, the others who led the Soviet revolution were Marxists. They understood themselves to be followers, interpreters, and suppliers of what Marx had taught them. It lasted from 1917 to 1989. Not bad for an experiment, but it did disappear. But that doesn't mean that tradition is not relevant.
