The Safety of Radial Artery Cannulation
The complication rate from arterial line placement is very low. Large clinical investigations confirm the low incidence of long-term complications after radial artery cannulation. A recent study last year in anesthesiology was a retrospective study of nearly 63,000 patients for which there was a total of 21 vascular or nerve complications.
