The Pros and Cons of Desalination

There's a really, really interesting debate going on among like water experts right now about the way out of the western water crisis. Even though desalination is, it can be really expensive. And there's also concerns people from whom it nearby will often allege that the plants themselves are polluting. But I think that so far it's been difficult to build those plants for all kinds of permanent and political opposition reasons.
