The next chapter is called societal responsibility for suicide and especially from the point of your causation suicide is often attributed to an individual. I'm wondering if you can elaborate now Jonathan in what ways can or should causation be attributed to society. So I think although the two topics are very different and raise different issues there's quite an interesting analogy here with domestic abuse. We've gradually come to see that the abuse within relationships is a reflection of much wider societal forces, patriarchy if you like. The law itself has played a role in enabling domestic abuse to sustain the kind of attitudes that are reflected and expressed in domestic abuse.
