The Struggles of Ferdinand Magellan

Magellan's reputation was pretty much trashed, both in Spain and in Portugal. His expedition sailed around the world, a feat that wouldn't happen again until Sir Francis Drake accomplished it in 1580. The narrative so many have spun on Magellan is that he was a proud and resilient and courageous man who almost willed his men through the toughest of times. In the end though, he did some amazing things.
