The Santa Claus Christmas Theory

I'm sort of agnostic when it comes to a lot of interpretation of ancient traditions. I don't feel much confident so we'll ever know with certainty about things like the origin of Santa Claus. But it seems plausible that there could be some connection. The whole Santa Claus thing is very strange. And in Dutch culture Santa Claus comes from Madrid. He comes on a boat, docks in Rotterdam and then from there goes off with the flying reindeer. That's just like a statement that's not very interesting.
