"I had zero attachment to my father emotionally, like it was like, let's get away. I'm sure I was scared, but probably the adrenaline was like covering the fear." "My mother never really in love with my father and she would be having an affair which is what launched us out of our home into this world that we now live in," he says. "'Dysfunctional family' isn't just a label you give to people who are emotionally stunted or childlike,' his therapist tells him. 'We're not different from anybody else.' He adds: 'You don't have to look very hard to see how dysfunctional your family can be.'"
