The Importance of Civil Rights in the New Deal
Black people in America perceived the New Deal as being to their benefit. They started voting for Democrats during FDR's presidency, which really does undermine a lot of strident accusations about how racist the New Deal was. And you didn't have civil rights yet to really like split the party.
