Honeycomb Architecture - What's It All About?
Honeycomb's goal is for developers to understand what's going on in their ap. To do that, they need telemetry data and we need to be able to quarry over it really fast. The only index that we have in honeycomb is time stamp. So a retriever chops it up, puts it into many files, one per column. And then whenever those files get full and the local disk is like, i feeling it, man, retriever moves stuff into s three.
