The Canadian Government's Policy on the Indian Problem

In 1857, the Government of Canada made a law called the Graduate Civilization Act. The government wanted to force indigenous people to end their own culture. A major way that the government tried to end indigenous culture was through the residential school system. Over a period of 100 years, 150,000 students attended the schools.
