"I wrote this book with enough rage to fuel a rocket," she says. She was inspired by the hashtag Mosk Me Too, designed as an act of solidarity for fellow Muslim women who wanted to talk about being sexually assaulted in Mecca. "The memory of what happened to me at 15 when I couldn't do anything and the shame of it, even though I'd done nothing to be ashamed of."
