Synesthesia in Language
There are common patterns of synesthesia in language. A term that describes a sound might metaphorically come to describe a color. My favorite example is sort of a stereotype phrase from Old Westerns where you talk about how the cowboy wrote into the sunset with his chest unbuttoned.
