Python and Django: A New Way to Write Dynamic Web Pages

We really liked the simplicity of Python and Django together. It was clear based on all of our experiences that we'd been using something more complicated. We wanted something new. And it was new to us just by chance. Can I ask what the timing was for this? This is roughly five years ago, five and a half years ago.
