The Ice Sheet of Antarctica

The Earth has gradually gotten cooler over the last several million years, until very recently. As that happened, an ice sheet slowly accumulated over the continent that was Antarctica. The large Australia-shaped part of the continent is called East Antarctica. It's roughly south of Australia itself and sits on top of a giant mountain range.
