Biological explanations of sexuality in the late 19th century explained sexual identities as being the outcome of natural instincts. These kind of discourses are still with us today, but they have been used politically in very many different ways with opposite effects. So we find the exact same claims about biological origins of homosexuality used with totally different political effects and with totallydifferent political intentions. All of these questions about power and politics are still very much with us today and this is why sexuality is such an important topic and why there's so much to say about it.
